There is no single best month for every northern Tanzania safari
Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Tarangire, Lake Manyara and Arusha National Park can all be visited in different seasons, but the strongest timing depends on what the traveller wants to see and how the route is built.
Dry-season planning
Drier periods can make wildlife more concentrated around dependable water in parks such as Tarangire and can simplify some road conditions. They are also popular travel periods, so accommodation choice and booking lead time matter.
Green-season planning
Greener months bring changing landscapes, birdlife and seasonal wildlife patterns. In the southern Serengeti ecosystem, some green-season periods are especially important for calving-focused itineraries.
Migration-focused travel
The Great Migration moves through a broad ecosystem in response to rainfall and grazing conditions. Choose the Serengeti area based on the travel window, but do not treat any crossing, calving event or herd position as guaranteed.
