The 8 Days Kilimanjaro Lemosho Route is one of the most scenic and highly recommended routes to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. Starting from the western side at Londorossi Gate, this route offers a remote and less crowded beginning, passing through lush rainforest, moorlands, and the expansive Shira Plateau before joining the southern circuit. The itinerary is designed for optimal acclimatization, following the “climb high, sleep low” principle, which significantly increases summit success rates. Trekkers experience diverse landscapes and breathtaking views while gradually ascending to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa.
Day 1: Arrival in Tanzania
Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer to your hotel in Moshi/Arusha for briefing and preparation.
Day 2: Londorossi Gate to Mti Mkubwa Camp
Begin the trek through dense rainforest to Mti Mkubwa Camp.
Day 3: Mti Mkubwa to Shira 1 Camp
Hike through moorland and enjoy views of the Shira Plateau.
Day 4: Shira 1 to Shira 2 Camp
A gradual trek across the plateau for acclimatization.
Day 5: Shira 2 to Barranco Camp (via Lava Tower)
Climb to Lava Tower (4,600m) and descend to Barranco Camp for acclimatization.
Day 6: Barranco to Karanga Camp
Climb the Barranco Wall and continue to Karanga Valley.
Day 7: Karanga to Barafu Camp
Trek to base camp and prepare for summit attempt.
Day 8: Summit (Uhuru Peak) & Descend to Mweka Camp
Midnight summit attempt to Uhuru Peak, then descend to Mweka Camp.
Day 9: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate & Departure
Descend through rainforest and transfer back to hotel/airport.
