The 7 Days Kilimanjaro Rongai Route is the only route that approaches Mount Kilimanjaro from the northern side near the Kenyan border. It is known for its quieter trails, gradual slopes, and unique wilderness experience compared to the more popular southern routes. This itinerary offers good acclimatization while passing through diverse landscapes, including pine forests, moorland, and alpine desert. Day 1: Arrival in Tanzania
Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer to your hotel in Moshi/Arusha for briefing.
Day 2: Rongai Gate to Simba Camp
Drive to Rongai Gate near the Kenyan border and begin trekking through pine forest to Simba Camp.
Day 3: Simba Camp to Second Cave Camp
Continue trekking through moorland with expansive views.
Day 4: Second Cave to Kikelewa Camp
Gradual ascent through scenic landscapes.
Day 5: Kikelewa to Mawenzi Tarn Camp
Trek to Mawenzi Tarn, located beneath the dramatic Mawenzi Peak.
Day 6: Mawenzi Tarn to Kibo Hut
Cross the alpine desert to Kibo Hut, preparing for the summit attempt.
Day 7: Summit (Uhuru Peak) & Descend to Mweka Camp
Midnight ascent to Uhuru Peak followed by descent to Mweka Camp.
Day 8: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate & Departure
Final descent through rainforest and transfer back to hotel/airport.
