Day 01 :

Materuni Waterfall & Coffee Tour Experience

Your journey begins early in the morning with a 08:00 AM pick-up from your hotel in Moshi or Arusha. After a scenic 45-minute drive, you will arrive at Materuni village, a charming Chagga community located on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Upon arrival, you will be welcomed by a local guide who will lead you on an easy to moderate hike through lush banana and coffee plantations. Along the way, you’ll learn about the local farming techniques and the significance of the Chagga culture in the region. The trail offers beautiful landscapes, fresh mountain air, and occasional glimpses of Kilimanjaro’s peak if the weather is clear.

After approximately 45 minutes of hiking, you will reach the breathtaking Materuni Waterfall. Cascading from a height of over 80 meters, the waterfall creates a natural pool at its base, where you can take a refreshing swim in the cool mountain water. Here, you’ll have time to relax, take photos, and enjoy the serene surroundings before heading back to the village.

By 12:30 PM, you will return to the village for an authentic Chagga coffee experience. You will visit a local coffee farm, where the farmers will demonstrate the traditional coffee-making process, from hand-picking and roasting to grinding and brewing. As you participate, you’ll be treated to lively Chagga songs and dances that make the experience even more enjoyable. Finally, you’ll get to taste the freshly brewed organic Arabica coffee, known for its rich aroma and smooth taste.

Around 02:00 PM, after an immersive cultural experience and delicious coffee, you will start your journey back to Moshi or Arusha. You will be dropped off at your hotel at approximately 03:30 PM, concluding a refreshing and adventurous day in Materuni.
