The Mount Kenya Chogoria Route Trek is widely regarded as the most scenic approach to Mount Kenya. Entering from the eastern side of the mountain, this route passes dramatic landscapes including deep gorges, waterfalls, alpine lakes, and expansive moorlands. With excellent acclimatization and breathtaking views of the main peaks, the Chogoria Route is ideal for trekkers seeking both natural beauty and a rewarding summit experience to Point Lenana.
Early morning departure from Nairobi to Chogoria town, then drive to the park gate. Begin the trek through bamboo forest and montane vegetation toward Mount Meru Bandas.

Ascend gradually through moorland zones with expansive views across the eastern slopes of Mount Kenya. Reach Lake Ellis, a beautiful alpine lake surrounded by dramatic scenery.

Continue trekking through alpine terrain with views of Lake Michaelson far below. The route offers excellent acclimatization and some of the most photogenic scenery on the mountain.

Early morning summit attempt to Point Lenana to catch the sunrise over the Kenyan plains. After the summit, descend via the Sirimon Route to Old Moses Camp.
Hiking time: 7–8 hours
Overnight: Old Moses Camp
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Descend through moorlands and forest to Sirimon Gate. After lunch, drive back to Nairobi, arriving in the afternoon or evening.
