Discover the beauty of Materuni Village, located on the lush slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro. This full-day experience combines a scenic hike to the stunning Materuni Waterfalls with an authentic Chagga coffee tour. Walk through green landscapes, learn about local culture, and enjoy freshly brewed organic coffee prepared the traditional way by the Chagga people.
Morning: Pick-up & Transfer
You will be picked up from your hotel in Arusha or Moshi in the morning and driven to Materuni
Village, located on the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro. Upon arrival, meet your local guide for
a short briefing about the tour and village life.
Mid-Morning: Hike to Materuni Waterfalls
Start a guided walk through beautiful landscapes filled with banana plantations, coffee farms,
and small streams. The hike takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour. At the waterfalls, you can relax,
take photos, and even enjoy a refreshing swim in the natural pool.
Afternoon: Coffee Tour Experience
After returning from the waterfall, visit a local Chagga coffee farm. Learn how coffee is grown,
harvested, roasted, and processed using traditional methods. You will also take part in grinding the coffee and enjoy a fresh cup while experiencing local songs and dances.
Lunch Break
Enjoy a traditional hot lunch prepared by the local community, offering an authentic taste of
Chagga cuisine.
Evening: Return Transfer
After the experience, you will be driven back to your hotel in Arusha or Moshi, arriving in the
late afternoon or early evening.
