Day 1: Arusha – Tarangire National Park
Your adventure begins with a morning pickup from your hotel in Arusha. After a briefing by your guide, you will drive through beautiful Maasai plains to reach Tarangire National Park, famous for its vast savannahs dotted with giant baobab trees. Once inside the park, you’ll enjoy a full-day game drive with a packed lunch.
Tarangire is often called the “home of elephants” due to its large herds, and you’ll have the chance to watch them roam freely, often alongside wildebeest, zebras, buffalo, giraffes, and predators such as lions and leopards. Bird enthusiasts will also be impressed, as the park is home to over 500 species. In the evening, you will drive to your lodge or camp near Mto wa Mbu / Karatu for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater – Karatu
After an early breakfast, you will descend 600 meters into the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater, one of the most unique safari destinations in the world. Often referred to as the “Eighth Wonder of the World”, the crater is home to more than 25,000 large animals. You’ll spend the day exploring this natural wildlife sanctuary, spotting elephants, hippos, zebras, wildebeest, hyenas, and lions. If you’re lucky, you might even spot the rare black rhino.
Enjoy a picnic lunch at the hippo pool while taking in the incredible scenery. After a full afternoon of game viewing, you’ll ascend the crater walls and return to your lodge in Karatu for a relaxing evening, dinner, and overnight.
Day 3: Lake Manyara National Park – Arusha
On your final day, you’ll visit Lake Manyara National Park, a lush and compact park located at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment. This park is well known for its tree-climbing lions, colorful flamingos along the lakeshore, and diverse habitats that support giraffes, elephants, hippos, and troops of playful baboons.
You’ll enjoy a morning game drive with plenty of opportunities for photography and bird watching. After lunch, you’ll drive back to Arusha, arriving in the late afternoon, marking the end of your unforgettable 3 Days Northern Circuit Safari.
