The 7 Days Kilimanjaro Adventure Trek via the Machame Route, also known as the Whiskey Route, is the most popular climb on Kilimanjaro. With an extra acclimatization day, this trek offers an excellent balance of challenge, scenery, and success rate. Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Moshi
Meet our team at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer to your hotel. Overnight stay and trek briefing.
Day 2: Moshi – Machame Gate to Machame Camp (3,000m)
Hike: 5–6 hrs
Trek through lush rainforest to reach Machame Camp.
Day 3: Machame Camp to Shira Camp (3,840m)
Hike: 4–5 hrs
Climb into moorland zone with spectacular views of Shira Plateau.
Day 4: Shira Camp to Barranco Camp (3,950m) via Lava Tower (4,600m)
Hike: 6–7 hrs
Acclimatize by trekking high to Lava Tower, then descend to Barranco Camp.
Day 5: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp (4,035m)
Hike: 4–5 hrs
Climb the iconic Barranco Wall, then trek across valleys to Karanga Camp.
Day 6: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp (4,680m)
Hike: 3–4 hrs
Shorter trek through alpine desert to Barafu Camp, base for the summit push.
Day 7: Summit Day – Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak (5,895m), Descent to Mweka Camp
Hike: 12–14 hrs
Midnight ascent to Stella Point (5,756m) and onward to Uhuru Peak. Descend to Mweka Camp (3,100m) for overnight rest.
Day 8: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate – Departure
Hike: 3–4 hrs
Final descent through rainforest to Mweka Gate, collect your summit certificates, and transfer to Moshi.
